Soomustindik on selline (Coprinus comatus)

Soomustindik

Coprinus comatus

Kübar: 5–10 cm kõrge, 5–6 cm läbimõõdus, noorena piklik-munajas või peaaegu silindriline, vanana laiuv-kellukjas, valge, kaetud valgete või helepruunikate kiuliste soomustega, vananedes veeldub servast mustjaks tintjaks massiks.

Eoslehekesed: valged, vabad, väga tihedalt asetunud, muutuvad alumisest servast alates kiiresti roosakaks ja hiljem üleni mustaks ning veelduvad mustaks mahatilkuvaks tintjaks massiks.

Jalg: 7–20 cm kõrge, 1–3 cm läbimõõdus, valge, torujas, sile, kuiv.

Seeneliha: valge, väga õrn, vatjas, erilise lõhna ja maitseta.

Kasvukoht: metsaservad, aiad, pargid, muruplatsid.

Esinemisaeg: septembrist novembrini.

Söödavus: noorelt väga hea söögiseen, ei vaja kupatamist. Servast mustjaks muutunud viljakehad on juba kõlbmatud.

Kasutamine: soomustindik on marineerituna maitselt ületamatu, kõige paremini sobivad selleks väikesed, 3–5 cm pikkused hästi noored viljakehad. Praetuna on vängemaitseline.

Sarnased liigid: puuduvad.

Märkused: tindikute mustast vedelikust valmistati vanasti mittepleekuvat dokumenditinti. Soovi korral võib ka ise koguda tindikutest erituvat vedelikku, lisada sellele riknemise vastu paar tilka nelgiõli, kleepuvuse jaoks aga kummiaraabikut.

Coprinus comatus: The Shaggy Mane

( Basidiomycetes > Agaricales > Coprinaceae > Coprinus . . . )

Taxonomy in Transition: ... > Agaricales > Lepiotoid Clade (J&V, 1998)

by Michael Kuo

Suddenly appearing in people's lawns--in troops or lines or rings--this mushroom is well known and relatively easily recognized. It is a well known and good edible, but probably not one for beginners, since it can bear a superficial resemblance to several poisonous mushrooms.

The Shaggy Mane's distinguishing features include its shape and stature (see the illustrations), and the fact that the gills "deliquesce," turning themselves into black ink as they mature. Unfortunately, the inky gills are required for a beginner to make a successful identification--but it is the buttons that are good to eat. Beginning collectors should familiarize themselves with the species before experimenting. This means finding it a few times in places where both button and mature stages are growing together, and carefully observing the mushrooms' features.

Shaggy Manes are frequently found in disturbed ground, and the edges of dirt roads can produce many mushrooms. In the Rocky Mountains, Coprinus comatus can be hunted from the car during monsoon season by simply driving four-wheel-drive roads and keeping an eye on the roadsides. Mushrooms are very eager absorbers of pollution, however, and one should avoid any specimens growing on well traveled roadsides.
