Inonotus radiatus. Very common in the Netherlands. Necrotrophic parasite on stems, trunks and branches of various deciduous trees, especially Alder. Causes white-rot.

Char.: young fruiting bodies ± bulbous, pale (ochreous) yellow, often bleeding big drops of fluid ("guttation"), later console-shaped and ± rusty brown (finally dark brown or blackish brown) with pale yellow edge, surface ± radially wrinkled; pores silvery white to yellowish grey.
